Farmers in the North of Britain are being practical and looking forward to the future after one of the hardest crop-growing years in living memory, says Craig Thomson, Territory Manager after a successful Royal Highland Show for the company.

And the fact that spring crops could yield respectably is helping improve their mood, he says:

“Prospects for this coming harvest have improved quite markedly thanks to the recent run of better weather, which has helped some of the backward-looking autumn crops to rally very well.

“As a result harvest may not be as late as it had appeared it might be, so farmers should have time to complete any restructuring work that might be required and get next year’s crops off to a good start. Most spring-planted crops are looking very healthy, but a lot still depends on us having a good, dry harvest.

“On the machinery front, we are seeing a lot of interest in machines like the DTX and X-Press from people trying to simplify their cultivation system and remove passes, and in our press range for working down ploughed land”.
